SUMMER THINGS TO DO!

Ø Registration through the month of July (Current & New Students)

Ø Mary Poppins Auditions (Adults and Children)
     July 18th 10-12 at STARS

Ø Anyone who is 8 or older that is interested please read the following and let Rebecca know by July 17th:

For something new, we have arranged an opportunity with Pamela Burnside from West Plains who specializes in Music Theater Dance. She has volunteered to help us; her Bio is below.

We will be working on a musical comedy number for the Springfield Cardinals game on Aug 22, 2015. We will perform around 6:00 PM.  It will be a basic jazz routine to "You Gotta Have Heart" from Damn Yankees. We will be wearing Cardinals t shirts and grey shorts (knit) that you will be responsible for. Tickets will be purchased before the game and are usually $8.00 or $9.00 per person.  We dance before the game and then stay for the game.  The kids will be dancing on the grass.

Pamela Burnside is a graduate of the University of Denver with a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre, Dance & Education.  She has been dancing since the age of 2 1/2 which gives her 63 years of experience. She began assisting her teacher in Dodge City, Kansas at the age of 13.  She had a large studio in Denver for 34 years and then moved to West Plains.  Pamela has been here almost 11 years. (I have known her for 9 of those years.) She is active in the community choreographing the musicals for the Avenue Theatre and the local schools. She has studied and taught classes in: ballet , tap, jazz, musical comedy, celtic hard and soft shoe, 3 types of clog, lyrical, belly dancing and ballroom and country couples dancing as well. She has a big heart too!

Ø Another Opportunity for the Advanced Dance Company: Hip Hop Master Class by Pamela’s Son, Brock. It will be $15 per person held in August:

Brock Ashton was raised as a studio owner’s son in Denver Colorado. Since the age of 2, brock has studied and trained in various styles of dance such as ballet, tap, jazz, modern, ballroom, country, breakdancing, and hip hop. Over his dancing career, he has received awards and accolades for performing as well as choreography including top overall and high score for regional and national competitions in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oregon, and Denver. Brock also received a golden ticket on season 4 of "So You Think You Can Dance" on Fox. Brock choreographed and performed for Vanilla ice with the Denver Nuggets dancers. He was a lead choreographer and artistic assistant director for Avelon entertainment as a feature member at RISE nightclub, and Global Dance Festival with Djs from around the globe. Brock led choreography and performed with the Elevation crew which one the Denver radio station KS1075 YouGotServed Contest by sweeping all 9 weeks.Brock has assisted alongside some of the biggest and most known leaders of the dance industry such as Dave Scott, Chris Judd, Chris Jones, Shane Sparks, Wade Robson, and trained with others such as Nappytabs, Brian Friedman, Tony Testa, Misha Gabriel, and Phi Nyugen of the Jabbawockees. Brock has decided to focus his love for dance in the many elements of hiphop from pop, krump, lock, to also infuse club and freestyle dances with studio stylized training. Brock wishes to spread dance through positivity, joy, happiness, and raising people’s technique, ability, and knowledge through his love of dance to all ages from young children to adults!

We hope that you will be pleased with our new choice, Disney's "Mary Poppins"!  This is the full Broadway version, and will include actors, dancers, and instrumentalists of all ages. Auditions will be held at the STARS Foundation building in Cabool.  Performances will be the last two weekends of September.
