STARS Students,

Mrs. Peterson has been so busy, she obviously doesn't pay attention to the calendar! Last week she told some of you there was one more week of classes, however, TOMORROW marks the beginning of our CHRISTMAS VACATION!!

Please note there will be NO STARS LESSONS AND CLASSES until JANUARY 5.

We'd like to thank all of you for a great year, and look forward to seeing you again in January! We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

ATTENTION STARS Dancers!

A message from your instructor...

You will not need your balls today for class. We will be working on your dances instead. If you don't normally attend class on Wednesdays, and are in the Tuesday 4:45 ballet class, or the Thursday 4:45 ballet class and can attend class today to work on the dances that would be great. If not, we understand. 3:45-4:30 is the 7-10 year olds, and 4:30-5:15 is the 11 and up. We will keep this schedule until after the dance concert. Thanks!

Sign Language Cancellation

STARS Sign Language Students, please note that Sign Language class will be cancelled this week, November 5. Class will resume next week at the regularly scheduled time.

WONKA CAST AND CREW: There will be pizza and drinks for you after tonight's show. If anyone would like to bring treats, please plan for 70. Clean up crews will assemble immediately afterward to prepare the theater for the next group in line to use it. Thank you for your participation!

ATTENTION STARS PARTICIPANTS!! Please read carefully!

We will now resume our regular schedule, with the exception of Orchestra. ORCHESTRA PARTICIPANTS, please note that there will be NO ORCHESTRA on Tuesday or Thursday, due to Willy Wonka, however, there WILL BE ORCHESTRA on Sunday, October 26, from 3:00-5:00 to rehearse with the choir.

Immediately following the pictures, there will be a dress rehearsal to give family members photo and video opportunities that they don't have during performances.

ATTENTION WONKA CAST: All children who are referred to as "Candyman Kids" or "Lollipop Kids" need to come dressed in clothing that you'd wear for school picture day. You will be wearing those clothes during those scenes.

Schedule Changes for 10/13 - 10/17

ATTENTION DANCERS! This week there will be no dance classes Monday through Thursday. We are sorry for the Inconvenience. Let everyone know. 

ATTENTION THEATRE GROUP! Dress rehearsals will take place on Tuesday 7:00-8:30, and Wednesday 6:30-8:30. I apologize if these are not convenient for everyone. Do your best, but I understand that some of you may not be able to make it. It is the only time I am able to rehearse because I will be teaching music lessons. Remember that Tuesday the 21st is pictures. 

ATTENTION MUSICIANS! All lessons will resume this week; However, the orchestra class will be held only on Tuesday at its scheduled time, and Thursday will be cancelled because we have our first performance at the theater that evening. Also, put on your calendars that the Christmas rehearsals will begin this Sunday, October 19th 3:00-5:00 at STARS. The choir will also begin rehearsing with us. 

Important Info for October 6-10

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

 

Due to delayed construction at the theater, I have only 9 days to complete the sets, costumes, and rehearsals of our production Willy Wonka. This play helps pay for our annual insurance dues and it is necessary that it is successful. In order to complete this I am going to have to cancel ALL MUSIC CLASSES AND LESSONS for the week of October 6 thru 10. I am very sorry for this inconvenience to each of you. I hope you will practice and be prepared for next week.

 

I will however hold the ORCHESTRA CLASS on Tuesday Evening October 7th from 5:45 to 7:00.

Auditions Aug. 16 for next STARS production

Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, August 16, for the next STARS Foundation production , "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka. Jr."

Tryouts will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at STARS Foundation, 519 Main Street, Cabool. There are parts for ages 19 and under.

Practices will be held in Cabool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. for six weeks. Dress rehearsals and performances will be at Star Theatre in Willow Springs.

Cast Pictures Tonight

JUST A REMINDER: 101 Dalmatians Cast Pictures are TONIGHT! Please be at the theater at 6:00 p.m.

ATTENTION: 101 Dalmatians Cast

Please park as far from the theater as possible, to allow space for our audience to park.

Cast pictures will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29.

Tickets are currently available. If your child is one of the small puppies, and you'd like to watch the production as a family, Thursdays would be the best night for tickets, as it's usually a less crowded performance. Make sure you dress your puppy before coming out to the show.

Please remember WATER ONLY in the white room. No puppy food allowed! We will provide a treat for each puppy after the show.

Battlefield Mall Performance for Today Cancelled

NOTICE: Due to extensive theater preparations for 101 Dalmatians, the STARS Foundation will be unable to perform at Battlefield Mall today. We are sorry for the inconvenience if you were planning to make the trip to Springfield to see them. Their next scheduled mall performance is in May.

Calling All Dalmatians!!

101 DALMATIANS!! We are still looking for 10 more puppies, ages 8 and under. If you are interested in having your child appear in this fabulously fun production, please contact Rebecca at 417-254-3168, as soon as possible to get your puppy counted.

It's a small role, and your child(ren) only need to come at 7:00 p.m. to dress rehearsal on Tuesday, April 22, and the 5 shows (April 24, 25, 26 and May 1 and 2), arriving at 7:00 p.m. in dressing room wearing black or dark pants and socks.

Parents who would like to help with younger children may wear all black and carry them down the aisle to help them.

April Fundraiser

Dear Parents,

Some Reminders for our production:
• We are selling ads for our program, let me know if you are interested or if you would like to let others know I have the letters to take to them.
• We are holding a fundraiser for the production on April 18th at the Houston Wal-Mart from 9-5. If you are able to help with baked goods to sell or items to donate for us to make let Cindy know at 417-217-9430.
• This production costs about $5000 to put on. We have done 2 fundraisers and have a sponsor. We have only earned about $2400. If you have not paid your $10 fee for your child, please turn that in ASAP so we can finalize your costumes.
• There is an Xtra Practice on Thursday, April 10th at 7:00 at the STARS Theater to help us get ahead.
• Anyone that is labeled as one of the little puppies at the end (on website) please provide black pants and socks for your child of any kind.
• We still would like 40 more puppies ages 8 and under (crazy I know). If each of you could find 2 per family to bring or find we need them signed up by next Tuesday the 15th.
• If there are any concerns or questions please feel free to call me at anytime 254-3168.

Full Cast Rehearsal TOMORROW NIGHT

101 DALMATIANS CAST

Remember that tonight's rehearsal is at the Star Theater in Willow Springs at 7:00 p.m. Also, we are ADDING A REHEARSAL this Thursday, April 10, at 7:00. All the rest of the puppies will join us for the rehearsals on Tuesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 17. Dress rehearsal is still scheduled for the entire cast on Tuesday, April 22.

Important Date for Dancers

ATTENTION STARS DANCERS: All dance class participants (all ages, ballet and jazz) need to meet at the STARS building on Wednesday, April 9, from 4-5 p.m. to be fitted by a professional from Springfield for leotard and shoes.

101 Dalmatians Information

Please note the changes in the rehearsal schedule. All kids under age 9 do not need to be at rehearsal until April 15, unless he or she has been cast as one of the 15 named puppies.

Parents, please bring scissors to help cut out spots.

We are still in need of 50 more puppies, ages 0-8. Please encourage your family and friends to come join in the fun!

Cancellations

ATTENTION STARS STUDENTS: All STARS lessons and classes are cancelled today, March 17, due to inclement weather. However, this month contains five Mondays, so there will be lessons and classes on Monday, March 31, to make up for today. Please mark your calendars.

101 Dalmatians Rehearsal and Info

ATTENTION 101 DALMATIANS CAST:

Our first rehearsal is tonight at 7 p.m. at the STARS Foundation building, 519 Main Street, in Cabool. If you are not already a member of our closed Facebook group, you need to search for it and request to be added. All of the music for this production is uploaded to that page.

WELCOME BACK! It's been a long time, and we're happy to announce that we can finally have classes today! We realize that some public schools are still out, and some are running snow routes. If you live in the country, please use your own judgement regarding driving to attend classes.

Inclement Weather Policy

For future reference, it has always been STARS policy to cancel classes if all area Public Schools (Cabool, Mountain Grove, Houston, and Willow Springs) are cancelled due to inclement weather.

The post regarding Wednesday and Thursday's class cancellations appeared on our Facebook page, but inadvertently did not appear here.

If you're ever in question about whether or not classes are cancelled, please call the STARS number before driving in for classes.

NOTICE: All STARS classes and lessons are cancelled today, February 3, due to weather. This includes both music and dance.

ATTENTION STARS STUDENTS & FUTURE STARS STUDENTS:

Snow is gone, illness is gone, and all STARS classes can now resume! In addition, NEW for 2014... DANCE!! We currently have these classes available:

MONDAYS - JAZZ
3:30 - 4:30 – ages 8-11
4:30 - 5:30 – ages 12 and up

WEDNESDAYS - BALLET
3:00 - 4:30 – ages 12 and up
4:30 - 5:00 – ages 4-6
5:00 - 6:00– ages 7-11
